Editorial Independence: What Affiliate Relationships Don't Buy

An affiliate relationship with a brand does not buy a favorable review, a higher score, or softer coverage of real problems. We've published reviews landing in the 6-to-7 range out of 10 for brands we have an active affiliate relationship with, and we'll continue to do that whenever the evidence points that way. Our reviews are built through structured research, direct comparison against competitors, and a review of independent customer feedback and complaint records, the full process is laid out on our Editorial Process page. Commission rates on a given brand do not factor into how we score it, and a brand with documented trust or fulfillment problems will see that reflected in its coverage regardless of whether an affiliate link is attached.

Occasionally, a brand pays directly for placement on the site. That's a separate arrangement from affiliate commissions, and any sponsored content is clearly labeled as sponsored at the top of the piece so it's never confused with an independent review.
